In recent days, the official site of the London 2012 Olympic Games unveiled plans for the future ticket sales. What follows is a brief summary with all information about the upcoming sales, as well as some ideas for those who are only now deciding to go to London 2012 and wish to find affordable accommodation for the Olympics.
Tickets for the London 2012 Olympics:
The official website of London 2012 will soon start a pre-sale of tickets for the Olympics for those people who have applied for buying in previous instances and could not yet get their tickets.
Once that instance is completed, you will be able to buy all remaining tickets left for the Olympics, including the Olympic Football Tournament. This public sale will start at 11am on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. The London 2012 website will promptly notify all registered users the list of sports which still have some tickets available.
On Tuesday May 29, starting at 11 am, the official London 2012 website will be offering some other tickets for the Olympic Games, which will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. These will include:
- "Orbit" tickets available for those with a ticket to the Olympic Park or a sports session at the Olympic Park and wish to visit the new Orbit tower on that same day.
- Tickets for the race taking place at the cycling track at Hampton Court and Box Hill.
- Tickets to watch tennis live on a screen from The Hill at Wimbledon.
Meanwhile, on Monday May 21 all remaining tickets for the Paralympic Games will go on sale.
Beware of scams:
We urge you to be careful with the many internet scams organized around the sale of tickets for the London Olympic Games 2012. Do not be fooled by fake / bogus websites and organizations which claim they are selling tickets for the London Olympics. To check whether a site is official or not, use the websites checker available on the official website of London 2012: www.london2012.com
Affordable accommodation for the Olympics:
It may not be that easy to find accommodation for the London 2012 Olympic Games at this time, and it will probably be worse if you wait until the mentioned dates for buying your tickets and only start looking for a place to stay once you’ve secured your entry. It can be hard to find an available room in a hotel or hostel in London, especially not for a good price.
You can, however, choose to rent some of the many affordable apartments at Wimdu. This holiday apartment rental website offers you different options for a great stay in London. You can stay in a full house or apartments at prices sometimes cheaper than hotel rooms. If you’re on a tighter budget, you can also rent a private room in a shared apartment - some with private baths, some with shared bathrooms- or even a bed in a shared room, hostel style, but in private accommodation offered in one of the affordable apartments at Wimdu.
This type of accommodation, because of its still not-so-widespread use, may be more economical and readily available than a hotel room, especially in London, where housing surfaces are small and the range of accommodation at a good price is not abundant.
If you are not into this kind of system, you can also have your experience in a Bed and Breakfast. Wimdu has a good database of cozy bed and breakfast premises in London, to cater all tastes.
We hope you will be able to get tickets for London 2012 and wish you a pleasant stay in this magical city.
