Located in South Kensington, the Natural History Museum holds mores than 70 million items related to life evolution and earth science.

The original collection belonged to Sir Hans Sloane who sold it to the British Government at a considerably low price. The collection was exhibited in 1756 in the former house of the British Museum until 1883 when the Natural History collection was moved to the building that it occupies today.

Among its five main collections (Botany, Paleontology, Zoology, Entomology and Mineralogy) there are relics that belong to the original collection of the 19th century objects collected by Charles Darwin. One of the most famous exhibitions is the Dinosaur Skeletons that is a major attraction for tourists, students and scientists.

The Natural History Museum is also home of the Geological Museum and the Darwin Center, which hosts the museum's collection of numerous ancient preserved specimens.

Several academic and cultural activities such as the Natural Live Program, allow visitors to talk to scientist involved on the Museum’s research and conservation.

The Natural History Museum is not only dedicated to the display of natural objects, but it also makes efforts of research, identification, conservation and taxonomy.
