Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds is the wax museum located in Central London, next to the London planetarium. The museum presents sculptures of many sports, politics, and artistic figures, such as David Beckham, The Queen, Michael Jackson and Hitler among others. It is one of the major tourist attractions in London and the best known wax musseum in the world.

Its founder, Marie Tussaud, started her career in Paris as a pupil of Dr. Philippe Curtis. During the French Revolution she was forced to create the masks that the convicted would take to the execution. She traveled with her exhibition of wax figures around Europe, until she finally established in London in 1835.

The collection of wax sculptures at Madame Tussauds still includes some of its founders original works such as the French Revolution convicted mask and a portrait of herself that stands at the museum entrance. Personalities from all centuries could be found on Madam Tussauds’ galleries and since there are no ropes and poles protecting the figures, visitors could take a picture standing right next to Genghis Khan, Napoleon, Nicole Kidman or Lewis Hamilton.
